FALMOUTH ROTARY CLUB
Service to address humanitarian needs in our community and abroad
The Falmouth Rotary Club was given10 Falmouth Road Race bibs (currently 5 are remaining) for the 2025 race that we are able to offer to runners who want to participate in the race, while raising funds for our service projects.
The service categories that the runner can choose are:
Local Philanthropy
This category includes grants for local non-profit organizations; past support has gone to services for the handicapped, foster families, sick children, the local schools, veterans, the homeless, food insecurity, public safety and the local environment.
International Service
This category includes programs to educate, house and provide opportunities to girls at high risk of human trafficking and child marriage in Nepal, India and Kenya. Recent projects have included remote teaching, sustainable agriculture projects, solar energy projects, community outreach, and skills training for girls in rural Nepal (Himalayas).
Youth and Education Programs
The Youth Programs category includes on-going student Scholarships and student Recognition awards, Youth Leadership Programs, Outdoor education, support for local sports teams, and Children’s enrichment activities. A Rotary student exchange program is being planned.
Environmental Projects
These projects include Falmouth public lands cleanups at beaches and conservation areas, environmental education including an annual monarch butterfly release program at Spohrs gardens, conditioning and enhancing nature trails, and contributions to conservation initiatives.
Runners can also designate the Falmouth Rotary Discretionary Fund if they do not want to choose a program area. To raise funds you can then include all these areas to show the types of service Falmouth Rotary provides.
Each runner raises $1000 or more for the Falmouth Rotary club, to be used for the programs in the category chosen by the runners.
The Road Race and Rotary club provide a web page where runners can design their own requests for support and share them on social media, and the money can be donated through the Road Race Numbers for Nonprofits donation portal. Or the runner can collect the money and donate it directly to the Rotary Club of Falmouth, Cape Cod and it will be applied to the required fundraising amount.
